Common sense for car maintenance and care during the rainy season

When the rainy season comes in summer, especially when the rainfall is heavy, it often leaves drivers at a loss, which is very unfavorable for safe driving. This is just a stopgap measure to deal with it temporarily. When there is an opportunity, I still need to seriously do a real body repair or paint repair for my beloved car. Clean in time

When it rains heavily, the vehicle should be washed in time after returning. Otherwise, sludge may accumulate in the gaps on the lower side of the vehicle, which is where moisture can hide and also the place most prone to rust.

"Lacquer face

The acidic components in rainwater have a very strong corrosive effect on the car's paint surface. Over time, it will cause damage to the car's paint surface. Therefore, during the rainy season, it is best to give your car a paint surface repair. The simplest method is waxing, while a more long-lasting and effective one is glazing. No matter which method you choose, put on an invisible protective coat for your car to prevent the paint from fading and aging, and keep the bright appearance of the car always by your side.

Chassis care

The chassis is the part closest to the ground and is particularly affected by road conditions. Generally, this part is most prone to rust, and the wheel housing may even become loose and perforated. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to the cleaning and rust prevention treatment of the car chassis. A rust prevention treatment for the chassis can last for three months. After completing the anti-rust care, it is also important to avoid rinsing the vehicle body and chassis with alkaline cleaning solutions. This will affect the anti-rust effect and shorten the anti-rust time.

Ignition start

On rainy days, car owners often encounter the problem that the engine is difficult to start. Sometimes, even if it manages to start, it is weak and listless. The most likely cause of this problem is leakage from the ignition system due to moisture. Furthermore, it might be that when it rains and the weather gets cooler, the hot air sealed inside the distributor plate may condense into water droplets, causing a small water flood inside the distributor plate and thus losing its normal ignition function.

If it is found that the poor ignition and the decline in engine performance are caused by the dampness of the ignition system, it is best to first dry the inside and outside of the distributor plate and the wires with a dry paper towel or dry cloth. Then, use a special desiccant spray can to spray desiccant on the distributor plate cover, battery connectors, spark plugs, high-voltage wires and ignition coils, etc. After a while, the engine can be started.

Brake water removal

The vast majority of car braking systems are dual-pipeline vacuum-assisted hydraulic brakes. It is worth noting that the brake fluid used to transmit braking force has extremely strong water absorption. If water enters the brake fluid, during braking, the high temperature generated by friction will cause the water to vaporize. Gases are compressible. When compressed in brake fluid, they can cause brake failure or even total failure. When there is a lot of rain, the humidity of the air will keep increasing. If there is a small amount of water in the brake fluid before the rainy season arrives, it will be very dangerous. For some vehicles with severely water-absorbing brake fluid, water droplets can be seen on the cap of the brake fluid reservoir. Therefore, during maintenance, it is essential to check the brake fluid to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers.

Wiper maintenance

The increase in rainfall will inevitably put more responsibility on the windshield wipers, as the road surface and visibility on rainy days are not conducive to driving. If the windshield wipers cannot effectively remove the rainwater, it will pose a great danger to your driving safety. At this time, the windshield wipers play a very important role, so their inspection and maintenance should be more meticulous and thorough.

Turn on the air conditioner frequently.

When it comes to indoor moisture prevention, turning on the air conditioner is the best approach. Even if the weather is cold, as long as the temperature is set, turning on the air conditioner at the same time will not reduce the effect of the heating system; instead, it can enhance the dehumidification function.

As soon as the weather clears up, park the car in the sun to be exposed to it. Open all four Windows to allow the indoor air to circulate. The heated car body will quickly expel the accumulated moisture inside.

When not in use, desiccants are great substitutes for air conditioners to dehumidify. Air fresheners also have many benefits and are power-saving. Two batteries can last for a long time without interruption. With these two things, you no longer have to worry about the damp and turbid air hitting you as soon as you open the car door.

Keep the audio equipment away from moisture

When the rainy season comes and the humidity increases, there is often a layer of fog on the surface of CD records, which can cause dizziness when reading. It is best to clean it at regular intervals. When installing the CD drive, to avoid moisture, do not install it under the floor or seats. It is best to install it at a high place on the vehicle body, but do not install it near the rear windshield. Excessive temperature will accelerate the aging of electronic components and the laser head. In addition, to prevent the audio system from getting damp, a small dehumidifying box can be placed in the trunk. It should be placed steadily to ensure that it does not tip over during driving. The trunk should be opened for inspection at regular intervals.
